- "Dynamic HTML" is typically used to describe the combination of HTML, style sheets and scripts that allows documents to be animated. Dynamic HTML allows a web page to change after it's loaded into the browser. You can think of it as 'animated' HTML. For example, a piece of text can change from one size or color to another, or a graphic can move from one location to another, in response to some kind of user action, such as clicking a button.

- The XML programming language is used as a liaison between your computer and the internet. With XML, you can actually control a browser's functions on your page. XML is very new, thus it is only supported by Internet Explorer. XML is expected to launch as a major programming language in the 5.0 browsers. A new tutorial is added to Uncanny Programming almost every week, so this page is not in the least permanent.

- CNET Builder : ASP Introduction
pop
- We are used to thinking in terms of languages, but ASP does not fit that model. Although we talk about ASP scripts, ASP is not a language. Instead, Microsoft refers to it as a server-side scripting environment. To work in that environment, ASP coders commonly use VBScript or JScript, both of which are automatically supported by ASP.

- PHP is a server-side scripting language for creating dynamic Web pages. You create pages with PHP and HTML. When a visitor opens the page, the server processes the PHP commands and then sends the results to the visitor's browser, just as with ASP or ColdFusion. Unlike ASP or ColdFusion, however, PHP is Open Source and cross-platform.
